The Raspberry Pi Foundation has entered a new generation by releasing a new product, the Raspberry Pi Computer module 4, a board for factories to makers and has a much smaller size.
All models of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 use the BMC2711 chip, which is the same 1.5GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A72 CPU as the Raspberry Pi 4 board. The board supports up to two 4K HDMI external displays, single-lane PCI Express 2.0 connectivity, and two MIPI DSI/CSI-2 interfaces for connecting two monitors and a camera module. It comes with 1GB of LPDDR4 RAM, no flash storage, and no wireless module, but you can add 2, 4, or 8GB of RAM, 8, 16, or 32GB of eMMC flash, and an optional wireless module that supports Bluetooth and 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi standards 802.11b/g/n/ac.
The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 can replace all Raspberry Pi 3 and 4 models and adds eMMC functionality. It is considered a major upgrade for Raspberry Pi.
In the industry, this type of board is much more popular than the old one because it can be used in many different ways due to its small size and the removal of unnecessary GPIO, USB, and HDMI, making it more usable.
But Maker users don't need to worry because we have an additional board to allow you to use the old one.
